“I will not Campaign for Raila,” ODM Coast Governor Declares

One of NASA leader Raila Odinga’s closest allies on Tuesday announced that he would not engage in campaigns for the repeat Presidential elections set for October 17.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi announced that he would not bother campaigning for his party’s presidential candidate, arguing that doing so was fruitless.

He however, warned that his absence from the campaign trail would not affect the Opposition leader's popularity in the coastal county.

Speaking in Kilifi town, the Coast governor likened campaigning for Odinga to preaching salvation to a Christian Bishop.

“Hapa Kilifi Raila ni kama Bishop, Hauwezi ukaenda uanze kumwambia Bishop Lewa amkubali Yesu kama mwokozi wa roho yake. Sisis wastu wa Kilifi tunangojea siku ya uchaguzi turudie uamuzi ule wa awali , (In Kilifi, Raila is like a bishop. You cannot tell a Bishop to accept Jesus as his lord and savior. The people of Kilifi are just waiting for October 17th so we can repeat what we did on August 8)", the vocal governor announced.

Kilifi is one of NASA’s loyal strongholds with all the Parliamentary seats coming from ODM in addition to the Governor, Senate and Woman Representative seats.

29 out of the 35 MCAs from the County were elected on the Orange Party.
