A father was arrested on an attempted murder charge after cutting off his son’s hand in a fit of rage.
The father admitted to detectives that he had cut off the right hand between the wrist and the elbow of his 18-year-old son, Mohammad Khalid Qureshi, who works as a cable television operator.
Attempted murder
Pahadishareef police inspector P Lakshmikanth Reddy said that the father was booked on a charge of attempted murder while his son was transferred to a nearby private hospital.
According to the police, the victim is the oldest of his parents’ four children.
Recently, the teenager bought a smartphone and became addicted to watching movies and pornography. Despite repeated warnings from his father, he did not stop watching porn.
Qayyum caught his son watching a porn video. He tried to grab the phone from his son but the teen resisted and bit his father’s hand.
Totally severed
The teenager immediately left home and threatened that is never going to return. However, during the night, after everyone was sleeping, the teenager returned home.
A few days later Qayyum and Khalid argued again over the same issue, police said. In a fit of rage, the father picked up the butcher knife and cut off his son’s right hand.
Upon hearing the son’s screams, the other members of the family intervened and immediately took him to a nearby hospital.
Doctors said that the hand was 90 percent severed and that the chances of the son regaining use of his hand is bleak.
