Isaac Ruto withdraws land case against Moi University

Former Bomet Governor and Chama Cha Mashinani leader Isaac Ruto has opted to flex his muscles on the earlier stand he had over the setting up of a university campus in Bomet.

A legal battle between Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso and her predecessor Isaac Ruto earlier over the Moi University Bomet campus construction took a new twist, after Mr Ruto opted to withdraw the case earlier filed by his administration.

The withdrawal of the lawsuit comes barely a week after the official opening of the once controversial Moi University Bomet Campus.

Earlier, Mr Ruto wanted the plan to construct the University campus haled. Mr Ruto withdrew the case on Tuesday.

Bomet County lawyer Steve Biko, who had initially represented Ruto in filing of the suit, told the court that he has not been instructed by the new applicant on how to proceed with the case saying the change in county leadership had resulted in a replacement of the applicant in the suit.

Appellate judges Giberet Kariuki, Sankale ole Kantai and Fatuma Sichale adopted the consent as the ruling of the court and directed that parties agree on costs or they file an application for taxation.

Since he joined Jubilee Party and pledging his support to Uhuru Kenyatta, Mr Ruto has been quite, coupled with a humiliating defeat he got during the August 8 polls.
