At least 15 people are feared dead following the Gikomba Fire that broke out on Thursday morning, Kenyas St. John Ambulance has said.
Another 70 people, including traders suffered burns, while property of unknown value destroyed after the fire gutted a section of Gikomba in Nairobi.
The fire broke out Thursday morning at Kwa Mbao area, the Kenya Red Cross, has confirmed.
The fire, the agency has said, later spread to other parts of the informal market causing massive destructin.

A store of timber was also razed down in the blaze which started at 1am Thursday and by 7.30am, firefighters were still battling it.
The injured have been rushed Kenyatta National Hospital and other city hospitals. Other have been treated by the emergency and evacuation services which were deployed by the Red Cross.

The popular city market has in the recent past experienced several mysterious fires that have led to traders experience loses running into million of shillings.
President Uhuru Kenyatta in October last last year ordered thorough investigations into the cause of the Gikomba Market fires after an inferno which the then Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri pointed to foul play according preliminary reports.
