New revelations of scandals at KNH that forced out Lily Koros

Yesterday’s suspension of Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Chief Executive Officer brought to a halt her career at the hospital that has been plagued with scandals.

The hospital’s image has suffered major dents with numerous scandals unearthed during Koros’ tenure at the helm of the largest facility in the country.

This week’s case where doctors at the facility opened the skull of the wrong patient following a mix up was yet another stain in the image of KNH.

Recently, the hospital was in the spotlight after a baby stolen from the hospital was recovered in Kawangware.

In January 2018, KNH was the subject of discussion after allegations emerged that new mothers, fresh from labor were constantly at risk of rape at the health facility.

A team of female legislators and government delegations visited the facility in the wake of the allegations, demanding action.

With investigations underway, the hospital management moved in with a drastic measures to improve security and lighting at the facility that was reportedly in a deplorable state.

Her tenure also saw some of the worst strikes with operations at the hospital grinding to a halt for for months.

Her tenure has also seen the hospital achieve major milestones. In February 2018, a team of doctors from the facility reattached a patient’s hand that had been severed and chopped off in an accident.

Perhaps the greatest achievement was in 2016 when a team of doctors from KNH successfully separated conjoined twins.
