At least 120 youth working under Sonko Rescue Team on Tuesday morning staged a protest at City Hall in Nairobi pushing for the payment of their pending salaries.
The team, which claims has not been paid for the last eight months, camped outside the City Hall – Governor Sonko’s office – demanding for a meeting with their former boss.
Sonko Rescue Team is an initiative by the then Nairobi County senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
According to Sonko in previous events, the team was designed to enhance service delivery to the residents of Nairobi City County, as a fulfillment to the campaign promises made to the constituents during the run-up to the 2013 general elections.
Sonko Rescue Team was registered as a charitable organization in Nairobi. It was later registered as an NGO on May 5, 2017. By the time of publishing this article, Governor Sonko had not responded to the claims.
