Wealthy media boss advises Larry Madowo to resign from Nation

Wealthy Nairobi Lawyer and media owner, Ahmednasir Abdullahi has now advised popular NTV journalist Larry Madowo to resign from the Nation Media Group.

Abdullahi, who owns the Al Nur Media Group, sent the unsolicited advise after Madowo revealed that his employer had refused to publish his opinion column on the media crackdown witnessed in the past two weeks.

"This week, the refused to print my column for the first time in nearly 4 years. The irony aside, the same piece is now published on CNN," Madowo stated.

Abdullahi responded by advising the journalist to take that as a "vote of no confidence" and resign immediately.

"That is a vote of no confidence by your employer...and any self respecting journalist (and you are undoubtedly one) will have no option but resign from the employment service of such an employer," the wealthy lawyer-cum-publisher stated.

Through Al Nur Media Group, Abdullahi publishes the Nairobi Law Monthly, and the Nairobi Business Monthly. He also owns RTN TV which broadcasts in the Somali language.

The incident came at a time when Madowo has reportedly had sharp differences with his employers, to the point that he was recently given a warning letter over his attitude at work.
