On January 12, 2017, the High Court ordered recount and scrutiny of all votes cast in the parliamentary race during the August 8 election in Embakasi East.
The ruling was made in an election petition filed by Owino's opponent from the Jubilee Party, Francis Mureithi.
Mr Mureithi, who got 39,805 votes against Owino's 43,862, pleaded with the court to annul the August 8 polls, arguing that the intimidations that Babu adduced to his supporters violated their absolute rights to vote.
On Saturday, the first time MP was forced to sleep at Go down, along Likoni road in Industrial Area in order to guard his votes.
