First Lady blocks Makau Mutua on Twitter

Renowned Kenyan lawyer Prof Makau Mutua has come out to openly complain after Burundi’s First Lady Denise Bucumi Nkurunziza blocked him on Twitter.

In a satirical tweet, Mutua wondered out loud why the Burundian First Lady, who is an ordained Reverend of the Church of Rock, would want to block him.

“Why would Her Excellency Pastor Denise Nkurunziza — Denise Bucumi Nkurunziza — block me? Burundi’s First Lady, an ordained minister, has been a member of her Husband’s cabinet since 2005. Come on! Where’s God’s mercy?” Mutua tweeted.

The American-based human rights lawyer has been vocal on the Burundian government that is led by President Pierre Nkurunziza.

Despite presenting themselves as born again Christians, the Nkurunzizas have been accused of presiding over a dictatorship that have presided over serious violations of human rights.

President Nkurunziza spends most of his time traveling for football tournaments through his football club – Haleluya FC.

In March this year, two Burundi officials were arrested after their town's football team embarrassingly dribbled the ball past President Pierre Nkurunziza who was playing during a match with his personal team.
