Trouble after Uhuru's powerful uncle was implicated in NYS scandal

Mama Ngina's younger brother in trouble

Kenyans have reacted with anger to reports that President Uhuru Kenyattas maternal uncle Gatheca Muhoho was paid millions for lucrative tenders at the NYS.

The Standard reported that Gatheca's company, Petrokenya Oil Company Limited, made Sh68 million this year for supplying diesel to NYS.

The young brother to former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta co-own the company with former Youth Fund Chairman Gor Semelang'o.

The initial tender to supply the fuel was awarded to Horizon Limited, owned by the infamous suspect in NYS one - Ben Gethi.

Gethi later sub-contracted Petrokenya Oil Company to do the supply work.

In the 2016 NYS probe, Gatheca's close relatives were listed as some of the beneficiaries of the infamous Scandal.

Kenirie, a company associated with his children, was awarded a contract worth Sh88.9 million to supply injector pumps.

The directors of the company were listed as Felistas Wanjiku Chege, Catherine Ngina Gatheca and Muthoni Lucy Gatheca.

On Wednesday, Kenyans had mixed reactions on social media with some questioning President Kenyatta's commitment to the fight against graft, while others defended Gatheca's right to do business.
