The lawyer of self-declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) General Miguna Miguna has announced that his client has been detained inside a toilet at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a tweet, Nelson Havi stated that GSU officers deployed at the Airport denied Miguna access to legal counsel.
Havi mentioned that he had not seen his client since he made his way at JKIA on Tuesday morning.
“Miguna Miguna is currently detained in a toilet at Terminal 2-Arrivals and has been denied access to his Lawyers. This issue is getting out of hand fast, because of impunity and outright incompetence in the Ministry of Interior,” he said.
Journalists have also been denied access to the premises.
Emerging reports further indicate that Miguna refused to fill citizenship forms as demanded by the government.
Miguna's lawyer Cliff Ombeta said his client will not fill the citizenship forms issued by the Immigration department.
Earlier, Acting Director of Immigration Services Joseph Munywoki said Miguna Miguna was asked to present his documents to facilitate his entry, but he became uncontrollable only giving his National Identity card.
