Self-declared National Resistance Movement General Miguna Miguna has declined to fill citizenship forms as demanded by the government.
The impasse continued Tuesday morning after Miguna's lawyer Cliff Ombeta said his client will not fill the citizenship forms issued by the Immigration department.
Earlier, Acting Director of Immigration Services Joseph Munywoki said Miguna Miguna was asked to present his documents to facilitate his entry, but he became uncontrollable only giving his National Identity card.
Immigration Department statement
“Immigration official in compliance with Court Order requested Miguna to produce the documents he had used to travel into the country, in order to facilitate his entry. Instead of producing the requisite documents he had exited with from Canada, Miguna became unruly and threw tantrum saying he was a Kenyan who should be allowed to enter the country without Immigration clearance as is required of all arriving passengers irrespective of nationality,” said part of the statement.
The statement said that Miguna also refused to produce the documents even at the request of his lawyers and Kenya National Human Rights Commission (KNHRC) officials who were there to witness his return.

Munywoki added that the Immigration Department had also sent application documents to JKIA for Miguna Miguna to fill in order to regularize his citizenship status.
“As we stated earlier this year, Miguna automatically lost his Kenyan Citizenship when he acquired Canadian Citizenship at a time when Kenya did not allow dual citizenship,” said the statement.
