Mutahi Ngunyi reveals the one mistake that could nullify repeat election

Renowned political analyst Prof Mutahi Ngunyi has issued a warning message regarding the repeat election that was held on Thursday.

Ngunyi revealed that the repeat election risked being nullified if President Uhuru Kenyatta is declared winner before several constituencies can participate in the election.

In his weekly video column, Ngunyi stated that NASA leader Raila Odinga planned to ensure that at least one constituency in his Nyanza stronghold did not vote – thus lay a basis for nullification of the poll.

The professor of political economy opined that the goons sabotaging the repeat election were likely to be more organized than the government.

“If we use the Lucifer principle, Raila will be more organized than the government. This way, an election in at least one constituency will not happen.

“The net effect is that the entire October 26 election will be nullified. But if President Kenyatta is firm, the election markets will be opened on Monday,” the analyst remarked.

Ngunyi, famed for the tyranny of numbers prediction, explained that it was not mandatory for people in the affected areas to vote, so long as the polling stations remained open.

The development came after IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati suspended repeat election in several constituencies in Nyanza over deteriorated security situation.

At the same time, the professor of political economy dismissed the legitimacy concerns which have dogged the October 26 election, with an alleged turn-out of 48 percent.

“Voter turnout in the US election was 54 percent in which Trump received half of it, about 27 percent of registered voters. In France, turnout was 48.7 percent in which Macron scored 31 percent of registered votes. In Kenya, turnout was 48 percent and Uhuru scored 47 percent of total votes,” Ngunyi observed.
