The National Super Alliance (NASA) is set to unveil a special new team and hold a major event on Sunday in a bold move aimed at resuming the Peoples Assembly process early in the new year.

NASA on Thursday announced that the team known as the Assumption of Office Committee will be charged with the responsibility of swearing-in the coalition leaders Raila Odinga as president and Kalonzo Musyoka as deputy-president.

Biggest event in Kenya

"The Assumption of Office Committee is already in place and working. The committee will be unveiled in the coming days. We are aware that the public is very eager to hear about the swearing-in of the People's President and Deputy President. This is still on course. It will be the biggest public event that Kenya has seen since independence," the NASA statement read in part.

At the same time, the coalition announced they will hold a major rally in Western Kenya on Sunday, January 7, 2018.

"This Sunday we head to Western Kenya to continue with the people-driven initiative to ensure electoral justice and self determination in our country. The details of the program and the nature of events to be held in Kakamega will be disclosed by the NASA leadership in Western Kenya," NASA declared.

Swearing-in date

A section of the local media reported that Odinga will be sworn-in on January 30th at Uhuru park in Nairobi County.

Prior to the Former Prime Minister's inauguration, NASA will traverse 8 counties perceived Opposition strongholds and launch the People's assembly.

The coalition will then hold rallies in Kakamega, Narok, Mombasa and Busia before a culmination of a grand rally in Nairobi on the last Tuesday of January.

Siaya Senator James Orengo already confirmed that NASA had finished the planning of Odinga's inauguration.

"Raila will be sworn in and those who think he will not are dreaming. This is the year of change in Kenya and that change will be realised when Raila takes oath of office as the President of Kenya,” Orengo stated.
