Police officer dies, three others injured while transporting ballot papers

One police officer died while transporting election materials for Thursdays repeat presidential elections.

The officer died when the vehicle he was travelling in rolled several times on their way to Balambala to provide security in the repeat presidential election.

According to the Nation, three other police officers who were in the same vehicle sustained injuries in the Wednesday accident were taken to the Garissa Referral Hospital.

While confirming the incident, Garissa OCPD Aron Moriase said the officers were escorting presidential election materials from Garissa Town when the vehicle rolled at Abdisamit.

According to the police, the driver lost control of the vehicle before it rolled several times killing one officer on the spot and injuring others.
