Sakaja to deal with Ezekiel Mutua

Ezekiel Mutua in trouble

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja has won the admiration of Kenyan netizens after he promised to deal with the cantankerous KFCB Chairman Ezekiel Mutua.

Sakaja became the highest ranking state official to take on Mutua over the reported harassment of vloggers.

KFCB had recently stated that it would regulate content produced through cameras and hand-held devices for online and social media use.

The statement was interpreted to mean that content placed on social media channels would be subjected to the expensive licence fees from Mutua's commission.

Khalif Kairo and his former business partner Clement Kinuthia are locked in a heated exchange of accusations, with Kairo now alleging that Clement not only cheated on his wife but also had an affair with his (Kairo’s) girlfriend. The car dealer also revealed that he is currently single, but will introduce a new lady once he resolves the issues surrounding his business.

After pressure, the commission clarified that it would not charge for not charging for YouTube and Facebook filming.

It was at this point that Sakaja revealed that he had summoned Mutua to explain and put the matter on official record.

Mutua's criticism

True to his modus operandi, the KFCB boss quickly drafted a lengthy statement where he criticised Sakaja, terming him a misinformed populist.

The Nairobi Senator did not take the statement kindly and responded in kind, criticising Mutua as someone whose attitude was unbecoming of a public servant.

"just look at your arrogance and ignorance. Acquaint yourself with the 4th schedule para 4 of the constitution then with some level of common sense. Your attitude is quite is distasteful and disgraceful to public service. Rest assured we have summoned you," Sakaja stated.
