The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has announced the appointment of Gerald Nyaoma Arita as the new Deputy Governor.
His appointment was confirmed by President William Ruto, marking a significant milestone in Nyaoma's illustrious career in the banking sector.
A distinguished career at CBK
Nyaoma is no stranger to the Central Bank, having joined the institution in August 1988. During his tenure, he held various senior roles in departments such as Financial Markets, Banking Services, and Internal Audit.
His work eventually led to his appointment as the Director of the Bank Supervision Department, a position where he oversaw critical regulatory functions within Kenya’s banking sector.

Contributions beyond CBK
Beyond his work at CBK, Nyaoma has served on the Board of the SACCO Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) as an Alternate Member to the Governor.
His contributions to this role demonstrated his commitment to enhancing Kenya’s financial sector regulation and stability.
Nyaoma will work alongside Dr Susan Koech who was appointed the CBK Deputy Governor on March 2023.
Prior to her appointment, Koech served in senior roles in the banking sector and in the government, most recently as Principal Secretary in the State Departments of East African Community, Regional Development, and Wildlife.
