Embakasi East Member of Parliament Paul Ongili popularly known as Babu Owino has made a major announcement, regarding his Embakasi East Parliamentary seat.

The vocal MP whose election was nullified by the High Court said that he had obtained a stay order that will enable him to continue serving the people of Embakasi East Constituency.

“We have reached a decision to appeal the decision by Justice Sergon to nullify our victory. I have equally attained a stay order which will allow me to serve my people as the current Embakasi East MP until we will have exhausted all legal options. God bless Kenya,” said Babu in a tweet.

High Court Judge Justice Sergon ruled that Babu Owino's election as Embakasi East MP was marred by election irregularities and that it did not meet the threshold of a free and fair election.

The judge noted that Babu had coerced and intimidated IEBC officials into releasing the results before due process was followed.

The results of the August 8 Embakasi East election had been challenged by Francis Mureithi of the Jubilee Party.
