Babu Owino reveals how his arrest was planned by Jubilee rival at a city hotel

Embakasi East legislator Babu Owino has revealed that Mr. Kamwende in charge of CID operations in Nairobi is acting on orders from State House after receiving a bribe to arrest him.

The flamboyant legislator disclosed that Kamwende had received a bribe amounting to Sh 200,000 from Jubilee politician Francis Mureithi.

Through his Twitter account, Owino divulged that Kamwende received the hefty bribe at Sankara hotel at around 3:30 pm before CID operatives seized him later on in the evening.

A tweet attributed to his account read  ”Mr Kamwende who is in charge of CID operations in Nairobi is acting under orders from Statehouse having received a bribe of Ksh 200 000 from my former opponent Mr Francis Mureithi at Sankara Hotel at around 3:30PM today”.

According to the legislator, his arrest was motivated by the turn of events in a petition challenging his win in the 08/08/2017 elections.

He disclosed that his “arrest is as a result of a deep conspiracy involving Jubilee govt, Mr Francis Mureithi and Director of Criminal Investigations Nairobi County Mr Kamwende on realization that we are going to win the petition against my victory on 8/8/2017.”

The legislator fell out of favor with Jubilee after he allegedly made derogatory remarks on the Presidency at an opposition rally with the matter ending up in court.

Shortly after he was seized, the first time legislator disclosed to his fans on social media that he had been arrested and was facing two charges: Harboring an intention to overthrow the government and assault.
