A new report by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics has revealed vehicle theft in the country was on the rise.

In the 2017 Economic Survey, 1,355 vehicles were in 2016 reported stolen compared to 1,111 vehicles in 2015.

Another report compiled by the Association of Kenya Insurer (AKI) highlighted specifications of vehicles that were being targeted by criminals.

According to the survey, vehicle costing Sh1 million and below were more likely to be stolen in Kenya.

AKI also indicated that as per its data base, out of the 406 cars that were stolen, 75 percent were of the Toyota brand.

51 percent of the missing vehicles were also white in colour.

The Association mentioned that silver, black, blue are grey vehicle were also frequently stolen in Kenya.
