Family and friends of Dennis Munene, a University of Nairobi student have been thrown in a state of shock and sorrow after he was found dead in Mombasa.
The body of the 25-year-old UoN Law Student was found lying at the Coast General Hospital mortuary on Thursday.
According to The Nation, Munene who is also a former graduate at the Kenya Institute of mass Communication (KIMC), went missing two weeks ago in Kasarani in Nairobi.
Records at the mortuary revealed that the unidentified body of Munene was brought in by the police on Saturday after it was found at Marina Beach in Mtwapa.
His body was found floating at the beach by a village elder.
Postmortem
The family is now questioning the circumstances that led to his death and are planning for a postmortem to determine the cause of his demise.
“He was fully clothed, even with his socks. So, he could not have been swimming. So, it is hard to understand the circumstances under which he could have drowned. His body too, has got no visible marks on it. We want to know the exact cause of his death,” Munene's sister Mercy Gichangi stated.
The late Munene lived alone at Allsopps area behind Naivas Supermarket and was last seen heading to town on May 9 to meet a friend in town.
