Raila forced to cancel US Trip at last minute

NASA leader Raila Odinga has been forced to cancel his planned trip to the United States at the last minute.

Mr Odinga was scheduled to give lecture at the Duke University in Durham from September 16-19 and was set to begin his US visit on Friday, September 14.

On advice of the university, Odinga called off the trip due to extreme weather conditions building up in the US State of North Carolina.

An extremely powerful hurricane, Florence is expected to land on the North Carolina coast early Friday.

The Durham area is fore casted to remain under extremely dangerous weather conditions from Thursday through Sunday and has cancelled all classes this week.

Postponed to October

"Under the circumstances, it was agreed that Mr Odinga's lecture be postponed to next month," read a statement from Odinga's spokesman Dennis Onyango.

The former Prime Minister is currently in Ghana for the burial of former UN Secretary General Dr Koffi Annan.
