Deputy President William Ruto has now linked ODM leader Raila Odinga and Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero to the financial crisis at Mumias Sugar company.

Speaking on Tuesday at a campaign rally in Matungu, Kakamega County, Ruto alleged that it was Kidero who allowed the former Prime Minister to get loans from the company during his reign as the CEO which he had never repaid to date.“Mr Kidero should tell his friend Odinga to repay the debts he owes the sugar factory so that farmers who are suffering due to financial difficulties and poor management of the factory in the past can be paid their money,” Ruto stated.

The DP affirmed that the two should take responsibility for the mess but said the Government would pump more money to the factory to ensure it was not shut down. “The Jubilee administration has released more than Sh3 billion to help revive Mumias Sugar and done everything possible to ensure the Miller does not face collapse,” said Mr Ruto.

However, the Opposition leader has on numerous occasions denied owing the sugar company any money.

The DP, who had been accompanied by Budalang'i MP Ababu Namwamba, urged the residents to vote for Jubilee because of their track record.
