Gunshots fired at Waiguru's meeting, car stolen

Gunshots were fired during a rally where Kirinyaga Jubilee gubernatorial aspirant Anne Waiguru was addressing.

The former powerful Devolution Cabinet Secretary was caught up in the chaos and was whisked away to safety by her bodyguards.

Trouble started when supporters of her main rival, Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua stormed the rally and heckled the former CS.

Police were forced to fire shots in the air to quell the rowdy youth.

One person was seriously injured and rushed to a private hospital following the melee.

According to Citizen Digital, Waiguru's campaign vehicle was stoned which was later driven off by the goons.

Neither Waiguru or Karua has given an official statement over the chaos.
