Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission CEO Ezra Chiloba has suffered another major blow after the union of independent commission workers withdrew its case seeking to stop his removal and other IEBC officials.

While withdrawing the case through W. Ndegwa and Associates, the Union also apologised filing the suit contesting disciplinary action against IEBC Secretariat officials.

"Our client and my chambers do unreservedly apologise to all your clients for any unintended consequence that resulted from said suit. Noting that the matter is being amicably resolved internally, we are duly instructed to withdraw the Suit in its entirety which has been done," the suit read in part.

Last week, the group moved to court seeking orders to stop IEBC from sacking Chiloba and some secretariat officials.

They wanted the court to stop the commission's bosses from taking any form of disciplinary action against the officials.

The group also named Immaculate Kassait, James Muhati, Betty Nyabuto, Praxides Tororey and Moses Kipkogey as some the officials they want spared in the purge.

The latest move now leaves Chiloba exposed as pressure mounts for the CEO to step down ahead of the repeat presidential elections slated for October 17.

The CEO has been under fire after a leaked memo from IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati showed the commission wanted answers from him concerning failures that marred the poll.

The NASA coalition led by their leader Raila Odinga have publicly and consistently stated that they will not participate in the repeat presidential poll unless Chiloba is sacked.

"The Chiloba team must go home. These were the prime suspects who were involved in the shambolic elections. They should be prosecuted for election offences," Odinga demanded during a rally last Sunday in Kajiado County.
