Matiang'i's team makes important announcement on KCPE exams

Education CS Fred Matiangis team has made a crucial announcement regarding the ongoing KCPE exams that kicked off on Tuesday.

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) chairman, George Magoha has disclosed that this year's KCPE results could be announced this month, unlike last year when they were released on December 1st.

Speaking in Nyamira, Magoha divulged that the government had purchased 20 machines at a cost of Sh100 million to assist in marking of scripts.

“Through the aid of the Government, the council has purchased 20 machines which are going to ease the work of marking with great efficiency and we anticipate that the compilation of results will be concluded earlier than any other time before,” Magoha stated.

Security was heightened in most parts of the country as the exams kicked off due to the political tension in the country.

In an effort to curb cheating in this year's exams, CS Matiangi introduced of a three-level security management system to curb any irregularities.

“The management of the examination has been improved. We have introduced three levels of security,” he said during a tour of Githurai, Riruta Satellite and Gatina Primary schools in Nairobi.
