Major Highway closed after a section sunk in

Drivers have been advised to use alternative routes.

Heavy rains and floodwaters on Wednesday completely cut off the busy Nairobi-Narok Highway at Mai Mahiu area making the section completely impassable.

Hundreds of vehicles got stuck in a never-seen-before traffic jam on either sides after the road was de-linked near Karima Secondary School.

The waters, eye witnesses have said, dug a deep gully on the said section, making it extremely risky to cross the ditch.

Early this week, the Metrological Department alias weatherman had predicted that Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley, Northern, Southeastern, Coast, Central and Nairobi will receive a substantial amount of rainfall.
