Alarming details of the police officer behind the brutal killing of a Form Four student of Vihiga High School have now come to light.
Mike Okoth was on Monday shot dead by a man dressed in police uniform during the anti-IEBC protests in Kisumu County.
According to Kisumu County Police Commander Titus Yoma the gunman was not a police officer.
Mr. Yoma divulged that the man behind the killing had dreadlocks and immediately after the shooting he hopped into a probox and sped off.
“The report I have is that the killer, who was dressed in police uniform, escaped in a probox car soon after the shooting. He is not one of us,” he said.
The Police boss claimed that he could be the same person who burnt motorbikes belonging to local boda-boda operators and also the destruction of property.
A spectator at the scene told journalists that after the ‘police officer’ killed the 18-year-old boy, he cut open the throat of the deceased to remove the bullet.
According to the boy’s mother, he had gone to buy ice cream when he met his untimely death.
The student was out of school because of fees and the mother was hoping to get the 5,000 balance in order to send his son back to school.
