President Uhuru Kenyatta remained out of the country on the day of Raila Odingas planned swearing-in on Tuesday.
The president attended the Africa Business and Investment Forum in Addis Ababa. The round table meeting had the Kenyan president speaking about increasing power supply in Africa using cross border networks.
The summit, a first of its kind in the African Union, allows governments and the Private Sector to establish a strong partnership in building Africa.
"Let's pave the way for the private sector to do the things that we as governments are not supposed to be doing. We want to open up our space for you - the private sector - to do what is economically necessary in Africa," Uhuru said.
The forum was also attended by Ethiopian prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn, Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni, Rwandese president Paul Kagame, president of Niger Issoufou Mahamadou and Macky Sall president of Senegal.
Raila's swearing-in ceremony is yet to begin but NASA supporters have already flooded Uhuru Park as they wait for the opposition leader's arrival.
Deputy Presidential candidate for NASA, Kalonzo Musyoka, had stated that they would be holding a crisis meeting after the government's shut down of TV stations.
