President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga on Friday morning held a private meeting at the Office of the President at Harambee House.

At the time of publishing this story, the two were still holed up in the meeting and are expected to hold a joint press conference after the talks.

Odinga arrived at Harambee House accompanied by his daughter Winnie Odfinga and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed.

The meeting comes after months of grandstanding between the two leading political parties.

Local and international stakeholders, particularly the United States government, have been putting pressure on both Kenyatta and Odinga to meet.

The meeting came a few hours before US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is expected to land in Nairobi for a three-day diplomatic tour.
