Emotional moment as Winnie Mandela is laid to rest

President Uhuru Kenyatta caused a stir in South Africa on Saturday morning as the country paid its last respect to liberation hero Winnie Mandela.

His farewell message, written in native South African Zulu language caused a stir on social media and trended for a better part of Saturday morning.

His tweet set social media ablaze, with some commending him for his knowledge of the language and others questioning why he did not attend the burial ceremony.

Thousands of mourners filled Orlando stadium in Soweto that is synonymous with the struggle for independence in South Africa to pay their last respect to the fallen hero.

Winnie who kept Mandela’s name alive for the 27 years that the Nobel laureate was in prison passed on at age 81 on 02 April 2018.

His burial on Saturday at a ceremony attended by dignitaries marked the end of 10 days of national mourning in honor of 'Mother of the Nation'.
