Concern is growing among Kenyans over the whereabouts of comedienne Star Chebet, a beloved star from 'The Real Househelps of Kawangware'.
Chebet’s popular social media accounts have been inactive for months, leaving fans worried about her well-being.
The last time she was seen online was in June 2024, when she shared a deeply personal account of her struggles with mental health and drug use.
Chebet's struggles with mental health & spiritual challenges
In her June 2024 post, Star Chebet opened up about the challenges she faced following her mother’s passing in 2022.
She revealed that her struggle with drugs began in 2018 and intensified after her loss. In 2023, she suffered from a severe migraine for four days, which led to insomnia and hallucinations.
She began hearing voices, which prompted her to leave her home and seek refuge at her aunt’s place. However, the voices persisted, growing louder over time.
Chebet sought treatment at Chiromo Mental Health Hospital, where she stayed for two weeks. Despite the intervention, her struggles continued.
She moved houses in 2024, but the auditory hallucinations followed her, leading her to travel across various towns, including Nakuru, Mtwapa, Malindi, Mombasa, and Kericho, in search of peace.
Her journey took a spiritual turn when she began to associate the voices with spiritual experiences. Chebet admitted she might have tapped into the wrong spiritual realms during her quest for solace. She expressed regret over her actions, asking for forgiveness from those she may have wronged.
Recent updates: Reports suggest Chebet is in Nanyuki
On January 4, social media users shared updates claiming that Star Chebet's whereabouts had been identified.
An account named Kalenjin Media reported that Chebet’s cousin, Cate, revealed she had moved to Nanyuki three months ago. Cate has since been in contact with Chebet's landlord, Bosco, who had raised concerns about her welfare.
Neighbours reported that Chebet had been staying indoors and ordering food regularly until January 1, when the orders stopped. They also mentioned hearing occasional screams from her house, prompting the landlord to reach out to her family.
Fans call for support
Despite this information, fans remain deeply worried about Chebet’s health and state of mind. Many have taken to social media, urging her family to provide more updates. Chebet’s past revelations about her mental health struggles have heightened concerns.
The comedienne once disclosed that her battles with anxiety and migraines began as early as Class 7. Additionally, being raised by a stepfather contributed to her emotional distress during her formative years.
Hope for recovery
Star Chebet is widely recognised for her comedic talent and relatability, which won her a loyal fan base. Her absence from the public eye has left many hoping for her safe return and recovery.
While the details surrounding her condition remain unclear, the hope for her recovery remains strong.
