The recent wave of abductions has triggered reactions from Kenyan celebrities who are anow piling pressure on President William Ruto and his administration.
While some have added their voices to the conversation, others have remained silent. It is not clear whether their silence is as a result of being out of touch with the situation in the country.
Kate Actress fierce activism and bold stands
Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress is a fierce activist who has always been in touch with the plight of Kenyans.
From the EndFemicideKE march in February to the Protests against Finance Bill 2024 and demands for better governance, her voice has always been loud.
When other celebrities were perhaps still digesting the situation or unsure of which side to stand on, her voice was clear as she joined ordinary Kenyans online and on the streets in the quest for a better nation.

The recent wave of abductions is no exception for the award-winning actress as she has made her stand known once again when celebrities who command massive following on social media are yet to react to the situation that has been making headlines for days.
Guys, as you celebrate, please note that so much is going on. So many abductions, which now the IG distances himself from, are going on… it’s a dark era. It is heart-wrenching to imagine the anguish and uncertainty these families must endure.
The absence of their loved ones is a constant reminder of how cruel and unjust this govt is, and it must go!
Larry Madowo: Asking questions, telling the truth and informing the world
The CNN International Correspondent has played his part in making Kenya a better country by highlighting news.
When Kenyans took to the streets in June, Madowo was on the streets with them, keeping the world informed of the situation in the country and using his platform to call for an end to the use of excessive force, rampant kidnappings, unexplained disappearances and deaths allegedly orchestrated by security agencies.
The recent wave of unrests triggered the acclaimed journalist to return to work from leave, covering the abductions on his platforms as well as on CNN.
I’m not here to support or oppose anything or anyone. I’m only here to tell the truth. And to ask questions.
Two days after President Ruto promised to end abductions in Kenya, 29 people are still missing. Previous abductees were stripped, handcuffed to the floor & tortured for weeks. “Where do you draw the line between power and dictatorship?"
Through him, the world has on several occasions gotten to know and for that, Kenyans on social media recently decided to appreciate his contribution, hailing him as a true patriot.
Octopizzo: abducting Kenyans using art & creative outlets for change unacceptable
Known for using his platform to address social and political issues, Kenyan rapper Henry Ohanga, popularly known as Octopizzo has expressed his frustrations over the recent wave of abductions while imploring President William Ruto to protect all Kenyans.
Once again I strongly condemn the abduction of young Kenyans using art, illustrations, and other creative outlets to express their frustrations and advocate for change. These actions, seemingly sanctioned by unknown forces within the government, violate our constitutional right to free expression.

Art is a non-violent form of demonstration, offering impactful ways to raise awareness without taking to the streets. Silencing young voices through intimidation and repression is unacceptable.
During the protests that rocked the country from June through to August, celebrities came under focus with Kenyans noting their reaction to the unfolding events.
It is only after Kenyans threatened to withdraw their support for a number of celebrities that some came out to declare their stand on the protests.
