On Tuesday, Nigerian songstress Yemi Eberechi Alade, simply known as Yemi Alade brought Nairobi to a standstill, as she unveiled her much anticipated Album “Woman of Steel” at Blue Door, in Westlands.

A good number of celebrities turned up to accord Mama Africa support as she launched her 15- track Album. Among those who showed up include; Nadia Mukami, Naiboi, Dogo Janja (Tz), Hart the Band, Victoria Kimani, Sauti Sol’s Chimano, Anyiko Owoko, Patricia Kihoro, Producer Eric Musyoka, Buddah Blaze and Blinky Bill just but to mention a few.

Those present at the launch cum listening party were treated to a sneak peek of what the Album contains, as Yemi was able for perform a number of songs as well as giving the inspiration behind them.

Night and Day

Opening the album is "Night and Day", ,on this track Ms Alade flaunts her ability to make innocent-seeming, catchy tunes that are laden with sexual undertones, which she also does on "Shake" and the mellow "Vibe". 

Flaunting her versatility, Yemi infuses a bunch of different sounds into Woman of Steel, from reggae notes on "CIA (Criminal In Agbada)" to RnB sensibilities on "Remind You", "Lai Lai" and "Somto".

The release party was Emceed by Chimano of the of famous Boys band Sauti Sol.

Successful year for Yemi Alade

This year has been successful for Yemi Alade, as she set multiple YouTube records, and dropped a career-defining collaboration with Rick Ross.

In 2014, Yemi dropped her debut 17 tracks album 'King of Queens'.

Fast forward to 2016, Yemi followed up her debut King of Queens with another acclaimed studio album dubbed “Mama Africa”. In 2017 she dropped the 'Mama Afrique' EP, before releasing 'Black Magic', the album.
