Some Nigerians seem to think their beloved Kelechi Iheanacho may have had something to do with the recent injury to Gabriel Jesus, the newest kid on the block at Manchester City.

The 19-year-old Brazilian suffered a fractured metatarsal on Monday and was substituted in the 15th minute of City's 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

Jesus, who arrived during the January transfer window in a high profile £27 million move from Palmeiras, has since kept the Iheanacho on the bench, as Pep Guardiola has preferred him in his starting lineup.

The new signing's three goals in his four games so far has led many to suggest that Iheanacho may have lost his starting berth on a permanent basis.

But the Nigerian, 20, who has scored four times in 14 league games this season, seems set to make a return in the wake of Jesus' injury.

And some his compatriots have joked that he may have had something to do with his sudden turn of fortunes.
