5 Self-Care Products to Avoid Conor McGregor-Level Rage

Being a champion UFC fighter requires a certain amount (ok, a lot) of aggression on the job, but Conor McGregor seems to have a hard time leaving work at the office. He was arrested on Monday under strong-arm robbery and criminal mischief charges following an incident where he took and destroyed a fans phone. On Instagram, he admitted he needs to work on his patience. Maybe thats an idea he learned in the court-ordered anger management following his previous brush with the law last year (he w...

Conor McGregor Needs This Self-Care Routine

When its your literal job to be aggressive, it can be difficult to turn it off. But hey, dont we all have trouble disconnecting from work? However, that doesnt mean McGregors behavior is justified. His work/life balance problem can end with people getting hurt, not just a little less sleep.

Id like to introduce him (and you) to the power of self-care. Taking a little time for relaxation can do wonders for your mood, anxiety, mental clarity, relationships, and yes, patience. The most important thing to keep in mind when doing any self-care routine is to not rush it. Adding a stopwatch into the equation defeats the purpose. Find a time where you can really enjoy each step. So maybe next time, skip the will night out and run a bath instead.

CBD Tincture

If you havent heard of cannabinoid (also known as CBD), allow us to introduce you to the biggest thing to hit wellness since quinoa. The cannabis derivative has been shown to reduce anxiety, curb pain, and aid in sleep. A serving of an ingestible tincture before starting a self care ritual can help get you in the mood for relaxation, too.

Bath Oil

For the uninitiated, baths can feel like a colossal waste of time. But theyre also the linchpin of self care for that same reason. They force you to slow down. Adding a relaxing bath oil that contains vetiver, chamomile, and sandalwood takes it to the next level. The fragrance will help feel calm and relaxed while the oil softens and soothes your skin. (And you can also use if in the shower if youre really pressed for time.)

Calming Face Mask

While youre in the bath, apply a face mask with soothing ingredients to detoxify and calm skin. Our skin can be the first thing to show our mood (like blushing) and can get inflamed when were feeling keyed up. Using a mask with ingredients like hemp oil can help calm your face and by extension your mood.

Relaxing Body Wash

Your morning shower might be designed to wake you up and get ready for the day, but a calming bath at night has a different goal and requires different products. At the end of the bath, use a special body wash or soap to help get you ready for sleep. Ingredients like chamomile help prime your body and mind for a good nights sleep.

Body Lotion

Youll notice that lots of these steps involve specific scents. Thats because the effects of aromatherapy are real. Lavender has been used for centuries to soothe, calm, and promote better sleep. Even if youre not a regular lotion user, rubbing a lavender lotion on your body post-bath will keep the calming benefits of that oil going long into the night.

Essential Oils

Speaking of oils, wearable oils can make aromatherapy portable. Look for a blend of different oils for a specific purpose (in this case, relaxation) and rub them on your pressure points where they can react to your body heat to release the scent. Re-apply when you need an extra kick.
