Believe it or not, the clothing you wear everyday is a major contributor to environmental pollution . From harmful textile dyes that poison the water supply to the amount of clothing that ends up in landfills, common fashion industry practices arent sustainable and are a leading cause of pollution to the planet.

Patagonia wants to change that. The outdoor clothing company known for its fleeces and ski gear has long been an advocate for recycling clothing. It repairs and re-sells items to extend their life and even allows you to mail in your used Patagonia gear for store credit.

Now, Patagonia is taking things one step further with the launch of a collection of upcycled gear . The brand is taking used garments that are beyond repair or not recyclable and repurposing them into new, one-of-a-kind items that pack a serious style punch.

Called ReCrafted , the mens and womens clothing collection features cool patchwork T-shirts and tote bags, classic down vests and jackets, sweaters, and even a tool kit. Each item is crafted from three to six used items of clothing that were sorted at Patagonias Reno Repair Center, then de-constructed and re-designed in Los Angeles.

The result is a wardrobe refresh that you would want to wear even if it wasnt helping the planet. The silhouettes are classic and a little bit rugged, exactly what youve come to expect from Patagonia, except each piece is slightly unique from its varying combination of upcycled materials, so no one else will have the exact same T-shirt or sweater.

ReCrafted is available online today , and at a special pop-up store at 1212 Pearl St. in Boulder, Colorado. So grab some new (to you) duds or start snapping up items for holiday presents, and claim a few good karma points along the way.
