The message had stirred an outpouring of support from fans and celebs, and Davidson was safely accounted for. In the ensuing months the comedian, who suffers from Borderline Personality Disorder , has decisively stayed away from social media and instead spent the winter watching ( and thoroughly enjoying ) the latest Clint Eastwood movie The Mule with his buddy John Mulaney and sparked a romance with Kate Beckinsale.
This morning, Davidson's Instagram flickered back on. Kind of. In a triptych of posts--two blank white posts buttressing a flickering goofy childhood image of Davidson--the account announced three new April dates of shows Davidson will be performing with Mulaney in Providence, RI (4/14); Easton, PA (4/26), and Baltimore (4/28).

Davidson's profile, with it's 2.4 million followers, also indicates that the account is now being run by
Marcus Russell Price
, a photographer and filmmaker who's also done work for Hannibal Buress and Amy Schumer. So, it seems Davidson's account will be mainly a resource for show announcement and news. A much healthier alternative than the toxic back and forth the platform had become for the young comedian.
The announcement of more Davidson-Mulaney shows is the most recent highlight of the seemingly odd-couple friendship between the two comedians. (Davidson's 25 and looks like he's perpetually walking out a Supreme store, while Mulaney is 36 and looks like a junior accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers.) Along with the duo's rightful fascination with The Mule, they've also been spotted palling around at Knicks games, or getting a crowd to stand up at a Steely Dan concert (truly, a feat!). A live show with the two riffing on Gran Torino alone would be worth the price of admission.
Mulaney, who's been open about his own past issues with drugs and alcohol in his comedy, has been a champion of Davidson throughout the SNL stars difficult year. We don't know how much, or if at all, Mulaney is talking to Davidson about his mental health, but having an open and supportive friend can have huge benefits when you're dealing with depression.
As Men's Health has reported , if you see a friend who his struggling and want to offer help, speak up and ask them bluntly how they are doing and if they're thinking about suicide. Even if they arent thinking about suicide or lie about having those thoughts, they know youre willing to listen, and theyre more likely to come back to you later," says Raymond P. Tucker, Ph.D., assistant professor of clinical psychology at Louisiana State University.
