How to get over being turned down for a date

Sorry you got curved, here's some help.

Getting curved is an inevitable phase of life.

There will always be something unattainable: a car, a pair of shoes, an outfit, a job and once in a while that special someone you thought would be your next big love.

Rejection can come due to different reasons that aren't always your business.

However, you have to get over it, do like Jay-Z and move on to the next one.

Here are a few steps to getting past being curved.

1. Acknowledge your sadness

Don't try to fight or suppress your emotions. Allow yourself to be sad, mad or whatever. Take time to mourn the possibilities.

2. Take pride in the fact that you're putting yourself out there

Even though you get curved, be happy in the fact that you're taking risks. And with every risk comes the possibility of rejection.

3. Be kind to yourself

Don't punish yourself for someone else failing to see how great you are or for the fact that they were unavailable. You were not stupid. You were not foolish. Don't do that to yourself.

4. Learn from it

Perhaps you failed to ask whether they were available or not. Maybe your way of asking was too aggressive. In any case, take some cues from it and learn how to pitch yourself better next time.

5. Don't stalk them

Do not succumb to the urge to follow up with them about why they rejected you. It can get messy or even more hurtful for you. Once they say no, force yourself to move it along. Don't call, text, DM or even suggest being friends. If a friendship is in the cards, let it happen organically. But tear yourself away from anything that could make you transit from harmless crush to obsessive stalker.
