How you may be sabotaging your relationship before it starts

Relax and stop putting too much pressure on yourself when in a new relationship.

Starting a new relationship can be exciting.

You’re starting over on a clean slate and things are fun and fresh and you can finally write the wrongs of your previous relationships – right?

Unfortunately, things don’t always go as planned and you can end up sabotaging your own relationship without even being aware that you are doing it.

Here are five ways you’re ruining a new relationship before it starts.

1.You’re rushing it

We get it, it’s exciting and this person makes you feel like you’re on top of the world. Only problem is you want to become Instagram official immediately or you’ve already given your family her contact details.

Slow it down and allow the two of you to enjoy your relationship together before letting everyone else in.

2.You overthink everything

Your last relationship wasn’t that great and you went through a lot – we get it. That doesn’t mean you should bring the ghosts of your previous relationship into your new one.

If he/she says they were running late you automatically remember how your previous partner used to do that to you and it turned out that they were cheating. You confront you S/O and that’s where problems start.

Learn to be open to the fact that certain things that happen in your previous relationship aren’t the same things that will happen in your new one.

3.Comparing your new relationship with the previous one

The worst mistake you can make in a new relationship is comparing your new relationship with your old one.

“I used to do this with this person and it always worked, we should do it that way” – reading the statement alone is so cringy, now imagine having to actually say it to someone.

4.Stop listening to everyone else’s opinions

This is a mistake a lot of people tend to make in their relationships. You reveal nitty gritty details about your relationship especially through social media then expect someone not to say anything about it.

You tell your friends everything that is going on with your new guy and girl. What you should know though is that there is a difference between seeking advice and exposing everything about your relationship.
