Dr. Pimple Popper Goes 'Fishing' For A Pilar Cyst

Dr. Pimple Popper hasn't met a cyst she can't extract-even if it takes a few extra tools.

Case in point: Her most recent Instagram video, shared Tuesday, that shows the removal of a pilar cyst (they often grow in hair follicles and are filled with keratin), using what she described as a "fishing" technique.

"Going fishing for a pilar cyst today!" she wrote in the caption.

In the video, dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, has already cut open the skin on top of the pilar cyst. She's pulling on what looks like a string that's connected to the cyst (whether it's actually part of the cyst, or a Dr. Pimple Popper tool, is unclear). Either way, she's using it to pull the cyst up and out while she applies pressure around the skin opening.

"I'm just trying to pull this, tease this out," she says as she works on the male patient. "You have a star here."

As she starts to get the cyst out, the white gunky contents , which look a lot like mashed potatoes, start to squeeze out of a small hole in the cyst. But she's able to get the cyst out without the whole thing exploding.

"They look like a garbanzo bean, or a lima bean is what this one looks like," Dr. Pimple Popper says as she cuts some tissue to release the cyst. She promises to show the man the little bean once it's out, and another clip shows the stitched up incision.

This one could have gotten really messy , but it ended up being a pretty clean, and majorly satisfying, extraction.
