DPP Noordin Haji on Tuesday announced that murder charges against Migori Governor Okoth Obado would not be dropped.

Haji disregarded earlier claims that charges against Obado had been withdrawn in regards to Sharon Otieno's murder case.

"The DPP has not and doesn't intend to drop murder charges against Migori Governor Okoth Obado.

"Obado and his 2 co-accused are charged with 2 counts of murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby," remarked the DPP.

The deceased's family had raised concerns after it was reported that the public prosecutor had removed a conspiracy to murder charge against the county boss.

They further stated that withdrawal of the charges would deny them justice should Governor Obado not be found guilty of murder.

Through their lawyer, Sharon's next of kin had noted that the decision would have weakened the case and offered the embattled Obado and his accomplices a way out.
