A man identified as John Mutinda in Kitui County, hacked his newly wed wife to death using a machete.

The suspect is alleged to have committed the act after a family feud ensued between them.

Mutinda's mother stated that his 19-year-old son approached her and asked to be taken to the police station after he killed Ciru Murimi by mistake.

“He knocked at my window and requested me to take him to the station because he had accidentally killed his new wife after a misunderstanding,” explained the mother.

Sicily Gatiti, Kitui Central sub-county police, remarked that the reason behind the murder of the 18-year-old lady, is yet to be established.

The criminal was arraigned in court and detained for an extra 14 days to facilitate investigations into the matter.

Husband hacks wife to death over tomato sale money

On Tuesday, a man in Trans Nzoia County was arrested after he hacked his wife to death following a quarrel over money made from tomatoes sold at the market.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Ayub Ali had confirmed that Prisca Cheruto was killed after she refused to give the husband, Daniel Koech, the money made from the sale.

The body of the deceased had been found with deep cuts on the armpits and stomach that had been inflicted by a panga used by the suspect.
