Two families are coming to terms with the death of their loved ones after the bodies of two young Kenyans were been found in Mwiki and Banana, sparking fears of the worrying trend in which a number of Kenyans have been reported missing only to be found dead, with some missing to date and others found alive later.

The first body was discovered in Nairobi’s Mwiki area on Saturday January 04 and was positively identified as that of Ian Singoe.

Ian, aged 26, had been missing for several days with the family hoping to find him alive only for today’s discovery of his body to dash their hopes.

Last seen on December 31, 2024

A friend who spoke to the media with permission from the deceased’s family revealed that Ian was last seen on December 31 in Mwiki, Kasarani.

With permission from the family, I wish to communicate that the body of Ian Singoe has been found and positively identified. Plans are underway to transfer the body to the morgue as police investigations begin.

Pressure on Ruto over abductions

The discovery of the bodies come barely 48 hours after the body of 24-year-old activist Ibrahim Hilal Mwiti who had been missing since November 2024 was positively identified at Thika Level V Mortuary on Friday.

It also comes at a time when pressure is mounting on President William Ruto and his administration to reign in on abductions, with several Kenyans missing.

Kenyans toojk to the streets on Monday, 30 December to call for an end to the abductions that have been reported in recent days with victims still missing and with National Police Service clarifying that their officers are not in any way involved in the disappearances.
