In a surprising turn of events, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Justin Muturi trailed his guns on President William Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration in which he serves over the recent wave of abductions.
Muturi who addressed a press conference at Serena Hotel in Nairobi expressed his displeasure, publicly condemning the government for its handling of abductions, including that of his own son and called on President Ruto to weigh in.
He pointed out that among the accusations labelled against the previous regime was abductions and forced disappearances only for the same to be witnessed under the current administration.
One of the things we had accused the past regime was the issue of abductions and forced disappearances. Today, there have been abductions and forced deaths mainly targeting the youth.
Muturi noted that he felt the need to reiterate his remarks on abductions that he made during a funeral in Embu last week when an irate crowd refused to listen to President Ruto’s speech that he was tasked with delivering.
The CS noted that despite serving in Ruto’s cabinet, he is compelled to ask the difficult questions to the same administration from within, sharing his own experience when his son was abducted in June last year.
He revisited the vents of June 2024 when his son was abducted and later released, stating that to date he has never received answers.
The CS shared that at the time of the incident, he was serving as Kenya’s Attorney General and a senior member of the National Security Council.
With access to security bosses in the country, Muturi shared that he reached out for help in tracing his son, only to receive cold responses from those who should have helped, or even provided answers.
Frantic search with no help & no answers 6 months later

I made attempts at all levels and to date more than 6 months I have never been explained the same.

I am unaware of any forces formed to abduct Kenyans, as that would be illegal. The government cannot abduct its own people.
