The family o the late billionaire Njenga Karume was on the spot light after auctioneers descended on Jacaranda hotel to recover 400 Million it owes KRA.
The prime property located in Westlands is one of the assets owned by Karume whose net worth at the time of his death was Sh25 Bilion.
The money was accrued over the years after the hotel management failed to remit taxes as required by the law.
The family however intervened in time and mobilized 75 Million on Friday which was handed to the authority with a promise to offset the remaining amount.
The iconic hotel is one of the prime hospitality facilities in the country, known for hosting high profile guests.
The vast empire left by the veteran businessman cum politician has been the subject of numerous court cases as the family tussle for control of the empire.
His children have accused the managing trustee of gross mismanagement and are seeking the intervention of the court.
Karume who built the empire from his proceeds in trading in charcoal passed on in 2012.
