The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice regarding the temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi Southern Bypass.

The traffic disruption is necessary to facilitate critical rehabilitation work.

The affected stretch, spanning from the Ole Sereni Interchange to the Ngong Road Interchange, will be closed in both directions starting Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at 8:00 PM, and will remain inaccessible until Sunday, January 5, 2025, at midnight.

KeNHA stated that the closure is necessary to allow for the rehabilitation of expansion joints on all bridges within the specified section and the reconstruction of the concrete pavement at the Virtual Weighbridge.

To minimize disruption, traffic will be redirected through alternative routes.

Motorists are advised to use Mombasa Road (A8) Highway, Lang’ata Road, and Ngong Road as detours during the closure.

KeNHA urges motorists to:

-Exercise caution around the construction areas.

-Follow the proposed traffic management plan provided.

-Cooperate with police and traffic marshals stationed at strategic points to manage the flow of vehicles.
