As the country awaits the vetting on new Cabinet Secretary nominees announced by President William Ruto in the recent cabinet reshuffle, the President has announced

Following the changes effected within the Cabinet on December 19, 2024 and as the Cabinet Secretary nominees undergo the requisite parliamentary approval process, President William Ruto has assigned acting Cabinet Secretaries to the vacant ministerial portfolios.

In a notice dated December 28, 2024, President Ruto assigned acting Cabinet Secretaries to the three ministries: Ministry of Information, Communication & the Digital Economy, Ministry of Agriculture & Livestock Development and Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry.

The ICT docket was left vacant following the reassignment of Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u who was nominated as High Commissioner to Ghana with former Agriculture CS Andrew Karanja nominated as Ambassador to Brazil.

The Trade docket was left vacant after CS Salim Mvurya was moved to head the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.

In that regard, it is notified that the Head of State and Government has, pursuant to article 152 (5)(a) of the constitution assigned the vacant ministerial portfolios to the following Cabinet Secretaries in an acting capacity as stated.

Ruto picks Mudavadi, Duale & Mvurya for new roles in his Cabinet

In addition to his current role, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi will head the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy while the CS for  Environment, Climate Change and Forestry, Aden Duale has been assigned the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development with both serving in acting capacity.

Salim Mvurya who was moved to Sports docket will lead the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry also in acting capacity.

Ruto taps Mutahi Kagwe, Kabogo & Lee Kinyanjui for CS roles

The Cabinet reshuffle announced by the President on December 19, 2024 saw a number of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies make it to the cabinet.

Mutahi Kagwe: Nominated as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.

Lee Kinyanjui: Picked by President William Ruto for the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.

William Kabogo: Selected for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and The Digital Economy.

The Cabinet reshuffle announced by the President on December 19, 2024 saw a number of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s allies make it to the cabinet.

Parliament is set to vet the nominees with those who sail through set to assume office afterwards.
