President William Ruto has reshuffled his Cabinet and senior ranks of the executive.
The changes align with the administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and underscore the government’s commitment to efficient governance and optimal performance.
New Cabinet Nominations
Under Article 152(2) of the Constitution, the President has nominated three individuals to join the Cabinet. These include:
Mutahi Kagwe: Nominated as Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development.
Lee Kinyanjui: Proposed for the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry.
William Kabogo: Selected for the Ministry of Information, Communications, and The Digital Economy.
These nominations reflect the administration's focus on critical sectors, including agriculture, trade, and digital transformation.
Diplomatic Appointments
The President also made new nominations for ambassadors and high commissioners in line with Article 132(2)(e) of the Constitution. The nominees include:
ICT CS Margaret Nyambura Ndung’u has been nominated as High Commissioner to Ghana.
Ababu Namwamba was nominated as Permanent Representative to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON).
Dorothy Angote was nominated as High Commissioner to Zimbabwe.
Agriculture CS Andrew Karanja was nominated as Ambassador to Brazil.
These appointments aim to strengthen Kenya’s foreign relations and strategic representation abroad.
Cabinet Reassignments
Two Cabinet Secretaries have been reassigned to new roles under Article 152(5)(a) of the Constitution:
Trade CS Salim Mvurya will now head the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports.
Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen has been reassigned to the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.
These changes are intended to leverage their expertise in addressing emerging priorities within the government’s agenda.
State Corporation Appointments
To further enhance governance in state corporations, the President appointed the following individuals as chairpersons:
Ndiritu Muriithi: Kenya Revenue Authority.
Anthony Mwaura: Kenya Rural Roads Authority.
Kembi Gitura: Kenyatta University Teaching, Referral & Research Hospital.
Parliamentary Approval Pending
All nominations and reassignments will be presented to the National Assembly for consideration and approval, as required by the Constitution.
Speaking on the changes, Felix K. Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, emphasised the government’s commitment to fulfilling its development goals and ensuring the highest standards of public service.
