Police in Siaya have arrested three of the eight Ambira High School students who were caught on camera hurling insults at Education CS Fred Matiangi and her Education counterpart Amina Mohamed.

In a video that has since gone viral, the eight students bragged of cheating in this year’s KCSE exams and insulted the two CSs for their efforts in curbing exam cheating.

The arrests were made after the school principal Mr. Thomas Odhiambo gave police officers the names of the eight students who were positively identified in the video.

IG Joseph Boinett confirmed that police are following up on the matter, stating that“Those juveniles as you have described them have become persons of interest not because of what they said insulting prominent persons but their suspected involvement in examination cheating."

President Kenyatta remarks

The arrest was made barely a few hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a terse speech on rampant indiscipline and the culture of cheating, promising that decisive action would be taken against those found on the wrong side.

"If indeed you are ready to brag about (exam) cheating, we shall show you what this nation does with cheats and people who have no respect for their elders." Said President Kenyatta.

The following is the list of the students who were identified in the viral video.

The three arrested are in police custody while five others are still at large.
